THE ELIXIR OF LOVE

The opera tells a story about Nemorino, a young villager, who is madly in love with the beautiful business owner Adina, who he thinks is beyond his reach. A Sergeant Belcore attempts to seduce Adina causes the frustrated Nemorino to reach out to a traveling purveyor of medicines, Dr. Dulcamara who sells Nemorino a fake love potion.

Nemorina needed the love potion to work faster, and attempted to buy one more bottle of elixir but ended up signing up to the army so he can afford the potion. Adina, learning that Nemorino is willing to risk his life by entering the army, is moved to tears by Nemorino’s affection for her. Adina pays Nemorino’s sign-up money back, and marries him.

ABOUT KL City Opera
Formerly known as Eat, Sing & Travel People, the Kuala Lumpur City Opera (KLCO) is the only western opera company in Malaysia and has been actively staging opera productions since 2012.
